I visited the Sri Lanka Design Festival yesterday, which is being held at the Mount Lavina Hotel on the outskirts of Colombo. This celebration of design provides a global platform for Sri Lankan creativity for both young and established designers.
The focus this year is to support the livelihood of rural artisans all over Sri Lanka and to include their craft skills within the fashion industry, which is being achieved with great success.
Beautiful handloom and batik fabrics made a vibrant entrance onto the catwalk with accessories crafted by traditional skills, but with a much more modern theme. Wonderful sarees with an up to date feel and contemporary clothing graced the day.
A real boost for the country - they have so much talent!
